Texas Homeowner Assistance

Texas Homeowner Assistance program provides financial assistance to Texas homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage or related payments due to the pandemic. As a select partner, BCL of Texas is proud to offer FREE and confidential assistance to help homeowners navigate the application process and provide counseling.

Texas Homeowner Assistance gives eligible homeowners grants to cover past due mortgage payments, up to three months of future mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, homeowner/condo association fees, past due utility payments, and up to three months of prospective utility payments. Eligible utility payments include electricity, natural gas, propane, water, and wastewater.

Application Assistance

Let us help you submit your application for the Texas Homeowner Assistance Program. During our appointment, we assist you by gathering the required documents, performing a basic review of household eligibility (we do not predetermine eligibility), and serving as a liaison for you until the case is concluded (either by payment of assistance or denial). We are here to support you and are with you every step of the way.

Get prepared for your appointment. Here are examples of required documents:

  • Identification card, like a driver’s license

  • Past due mortgage statement, property tax statement, insurance statement, and/or homeowner/condo association statement

  • Proof of occupancy, like a utility bill

  • Income documentation, like pay stubs


Housing Counseling

If you’re experiencing a hard time with your mortgage, you might be wondering where to start and how to get help. BCL has certified housing counselors that are able to help you analyze the problem and identify your options. If possible, we’ll help you negotiate a plan with your lender that will result in bringing and keeping your mortgage current. If that’s not possible, we’ll help you figure out what to do next. The most important thing is to reach out for help as soon as possible.

Homeownership specialists will help you receive personalized advice and the support needed to achieve housing security and financial stability. Providing participants with the resources for housing counseling and financial literacy for a direct, positive impact on your homeownership journey
